IBC2019 has wrapped, and EEG Video made the most of its first-ever participation as an exhibitor at Europe’s largest media, entertainment, and technology show.
We saw great interest for our captioning and subtitling solutions throughout the conference. Not surprising given the international nature of attendees, there was particular interest in the multilingual capabilities of EEG solutions such as iCap Translate for automatic captioning translation into English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, German, Danish, and Maori, with more languages on the way. One thing is clear: The future of captioning is global fluency.
Besides our debut at IBC, the show also marked the unveiling of two solutions, Lexi Local and iCap Local, both of which enable on-premises off-the-cloud versions of these two popular captioning services. Throughout the show, there was also great interest around Lexi, EEG’s automatic captioning service, as well as our iCap Falcon caption encoder for live streaming.
But you didn’t have to visit our booth to experience EEG! Red Bee Media selected EEG to enable live captioning for IBC TV, which provided comprehensive coverage of the IBC show including panels, breaking news, and in-depth interviews with industry leaders. IBC TV was available for viewing at the show by tens of thousands of daily conference attendees, as well as online.
EEG’s VP of Product Development, Bill McLaughlin, was in the IBC spotlight when he delivered a Saturday talk at the IP Showcase Theatre. Speaking on “Subtitling and Ancillary Workflows with 2110-40,” Bill provided the audience with an updated tutorial on subtitling, closed captioning, and other ancillary data workflows using the ST 2110-40 standard.
Finally, EEG’s Alta software caption encoder for live IP video was among many video solutions highlighted at IBC2019 by the Joint Task Force on Networked Media (JT-NM). Alta had just been certified as JT-NM Tested and received placement in both the ST 2110 and NMOS/JT-NM TR-1001-1 catalogs, certifying interoperability of SMPTE ST-2110 A/V flows, configuration, and management. The JT-NM program provides prospective purchasers of vendor equipment a reference as they evaluate equipment and transition to IP workflows.
And that’s a wrap for our IBC2019 recap! EEG’s first international show as exhibitors introduced new ventures in the broadcast media and technology space. We’re looking forward to returning to Amsterdam next September for IBC 2020!
