As 2019 comes to a close, it’s a time for reflection. At EEG Video, we’re thinking about everything that’s happened this year, feeling energized by the new experiences, achievements, and personal successes we’ve accomplished.
Direct from the blog and the EEG team, we’re sharing the highlights from 2019—and what’s got us excited about 2020!
Events
“[We worked] with a great group of people to tailor the marketing message for our new NAB booth in 2019.” Bill, Engineering
At NAB Las Vegas in April, we unveiled a new booth with new product demonstrations and updated messaging.
This year was one for new shows: IBC in Amsterdam marked our first-ever international trade show, and we were first-time exhibitors closer to home at the Melville Business Expo in Melville, Long Island, in October.
We also returned to a number of our favorite conferences to get face-to-face with our customers across America, including The Video Show in Washington D.C., Streaming Media West in Los Angeles, plus NAB NY and Streaming Media East in New York City.
The EEG Team
“I helped advance our support for new languages and captioning standards.” Frank, Engineering
This year brought several new additions to the EEG team across multiple departments. New hires have included Content Marketing Specialist Regina Vilenskaya, Captioning Solutions Expert Wes Long, and Inside Sales Associate Faith Weibert.
Customers and Products
“We doubled the number of Lexi ASR hours served [and] helped some of our largest customers move from SDI to IP caption processing with Alta.” Bill, Engineering
Alta received placement in the JT-NM Tested catalogs for testing successfully under ST 2110 and NMOS/TR-1001-1 standards. EEG’s VP of Product Development, Bill McLaughlin, also provided a fascinating inside look at how JT-NM, the international consortium formally known as the Joint Task Force on Networked Media, carries out this crucial testing.
EEG released the iCap Local and Lexi Local products, providing a powerful on-premises option to users of two of EEG’s leading solutions.
We enjoyed this insightful interview with an inspirational EEG “Power User,” Rochester Institute of Technology home to the renowned National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID).
Achievements
We were named Supplier of the Year by GA-ASI aka General Atomics Aeronautical Systems for achieving 100% quality and on-time delivery performance.
Our HD492 iCap Encoder was chosen by Red Bee Media to caption IBCTV, which provides comprehensive onsite and online coverage of the massive IBC show, including panels, breaking news, and in-depth interviews with industry leaders.
Bill McLaughlin delivered a talk on subtitling, closed captioning, and other ancillary data workflows using the ST 2110-40 standard at the IP Showcase in Amsterdam.
We were nominated in the “Closed Captioning Solution” category for Streaming Media’s Readers' Choice Awards.
Looking Ahead
EEG team members have shared what they’re most excited about accomplishing in 2020:
“Learning more about the products [and] increasing overall sales.” Matt, Sales
“We anticipate large growth in Lexi, including through a more accurate next generation engine. [We plan to] further increase the reach of accessibility solutions to traditionally underserved areas, such as education, local government, business communications, and live video online.” Bill, Engineering
“We shipped a lot of equipment [in 2019], and [expect it to] continue in 2020 and beyond.” Mike, Shipping
“Expansion into untapped markets!” Frank, Engineering
To EEG’s customers, employees, and partners, we thank you for a memorable and successful year—we can’t wait to caption your innovations in 2020 and beyond!
