EEG was featured alongside other cloud video innovators in a presentation by Chris Blandy of Fox Neworks and Simon Eldridge of SDVI at the AWS:reInvent conference in Vegas, the year's biggest cloud-computing user conference. Chris and Simon gave the best practical introduction we have seen to the new cloud deployment trends facing large-scale broadcast users today.
The MXF-based workflow on display featured CCPlay FilePro as the post-production caption encoding tool of choice, running on Amazon EC2 instances in a Virtual Private Cloud. Simon points out that a key to SDVI's approach (and appeal) is a commitment to "Best-in-class 3rd party applications," and so we are pretty stoked to make the cut.
Moving to a "cloud-first" architecture is as complex a project for us as it us for many of our customers, and equally on the forefront of our software team's plan. We plan to lead captioning and accessibe media technology with an increasing sophisticated and cloud-native set of applications, services, and models - the last thing we will be is the vendors mentioned in the talk as only being "dragged into the cloud future!"
