EEG has launched the DE291. A comprehensively featured VANC Decoder/Monitor, this 1RU unit adds Nielsen® Watermark Decoding to the capabilities of EEG’s DE285 Decoder/Monitor.
The DE291 Decoder counts and logs Nielsen watermark audio codes on a broadcaster’s SDI signal, confirming that each program transmission has the proper number of intelligible codes to ensure full credit for all programming viewership. In the event of a full dropout of codes, the 291 will alert master control immediately through onscreen alarms, allowing broadcasters to immediately fix the problem before the loss of valuable viewer data.
The unit is the most detailed Nielsen watermark decoder available. Features include:
- Separate displays for newer "Nielsen Watermark" version 6 data
- Legacy NAES II codes
- Affiliated stations can also see separate counts for their network and local codes
- Checking of high-frequency short-form commercial watermarks is also available
The DE291 also shares many program monitoring capabilities with the EEG DE285 VANC Decoder/Monitor. These shared features include valuable closed caption decoding, SCTE-104 analysis, and VANC logging tools.
“Nielsen’s audience measurement systems play a key role in the economics of content distribution,” says Bill McLaughlin, VP of Product Development for EEG. “The EEG 291 builds on our industry-leading solutions for data analysis, quality control and troubleshooting. With the 291, broadcasters can ensure that that their viewership is fully credited.”
